MLS S12, Race Day 4, Group blue, Race 11, E

Post by Q23 SUI 007 »

Submission Type: E

1.Your registered Boat Name: Fiducit III/VSKFunsters

2.Race Day: 4

3.Group (colour): Blue

4.Race (number): 11

5.Time (in Replay): 13:59

6.Rule(s) applicable: 18.3.b

7.Boat(s) involved: BatBoat/Jedi

8.Description: I was about to round the windward buoy. In the lee of me were BogDan and BatBoat. BatBoat luffed to avoid BogDan and came very close. But in the replay there was no contact between the boats at the moment I got the pen. There was a lot of lag in this race and the boats moved partly "unnaturally" so I had the pen erased because there was no contact.

9.Print Screen attached (required for a manual protest): N

Appendix: In the RRoS 2017-2020 is no Rule18.3b. Its a rule used in match races. MLS is sailed in fleet mode, so rule 18.3b isn't usable. That's why I asked for cancelation. Kindly regards Dierk aka FIDUCIT III

One more fact. Bogdan and batboat were under layline fetching the mark and i think Bogdan Pol and batboat Jedi both or at least one of them have been htw rounding the mark. Greets Dierk

I must agree with Fiducit on this, please view this cutscene: which also may reveal some lag.....

On the way to the windward mark, which I could just about reach, I suddenly saw that there were boats in the wind in front of me and I tried to avoid them by luffing. There was a contact between BatBoat and me (rule 12 against me). I was a bit surprised that the VSK Umpire did not give me a pen. Maybe it was "lag" or could it be that I was exonerated under rule 64.1 (a) and therefore didn't get a pen?

Facts:
Batboat to leeward of Fiducit luffs
- slowly according to Batboats's replay, resulting in no contact.
- quickly/jumping according to Fiducit's replay, resulting in contact.
Fiducit got a penalty from the VSK umpire under rule 18.3 which he cancelled.

Conclusion:
Fiducit did not get room to keep clear according to his replay. Cancel accepted.
Batboat gave room to keep clear according to his replay.

Note:
According to MLS Rule 2.5, the boats will be examined by their own replays, if available.
