Submission Type : P

1. Your registered Boat Name : LG'07

2. Race Day : 2

3, Group (colour) : Red

4. Race (number) : 3

5. Time (in Replay) : from 27:35 to 27:40

6. Rule(s) applicable : 11

7. Boat(s) involved: LG'07 & Alf TTW

8. Description : Approaching finish line LG'07 & Alf are side by side. The tension is at its climax ! LG'07 has to let room to Alf under RRS 18.2 which he does, however Alf takes more room than necessary and therefore breaks RRS 11 sailing too close to LG (definition of keep clear in this case : (b) when the boats are overlapped, [a boat keeps clear] if the right-of-way boat can also change course in both directions without immediately making contact.)
Note : As the incident occured close to finish line, Alf had no chance to either respond or turn. Therefore he sould be redressed if the protest his accepted.

Thank you.

Facts:
LG07 outside overlapped to leeward of Alf when entering the zone.
Alf 2 boat widths from the mark is reducing the gap between the boats.
At the closest, Alf's center part of the hull only centimeters away from the aft half of LG's hull.

Conclusion:
LG07 gave Alf mark-room.
Alf did not keep clear of LG07 becuase LG07 could not change course without making immediate contact with Alf.
Alf cannot be exonerated under 43.1(b) because he used more room than he is entitled to (more than 1 boat width gap is too much).
Alf to be scored DSQ in the race.
